A support group for families of children with congenital heart disease |
||||
Formed
in 1996 in association with the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey Hearts is a support group
for parents, siblings, and other family members of children who have been touched by
congenital heart disease.Our group presently meets three times a year to provide support, advice and instruction for these families. The group's strength is drawn from the experiences of its members as well as the involvement of the physicians, nurses, technicians and social workers who provide the care at the Hershey Medical Center. |
Mission Statement We are committed to supporting, helping, and educating families with children with congenital heart disease. This is achieved through meetings, newsletters, and a visitation program. Our aim is to strengthen families during their long journey from despair to hope. Hershey Hearts Newsletter The Hershey Hearts Newsletter is published quarterly by Hershey Hearts volunteers in the months of February, May, August, and November. Each issue contains a variety of news, articles, interviews, and member contributions. |
Visitation
Program Hershey Hearts has a program to provide
support to families who have a child receiving inpatient care through one-on-one
visitation or telephone contact. Our volunteers are parents who also have a child with
congenital heart disease. Families genuinely appreciate having someone that can relate to
their struggles, lend a listening ear, and provide words of encouragement. We believe that
the volunteers performing the visitation receive as much out of the encounter as the
patient's families do. To meet with one of our volunteers or for
information about the visitation program please call: |
