| My name is
Joshua D. Oberbroeckling. In June of 1996 I was diagnosed with dilated
cardiomyopathy. I spent four months at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania from Aug. 27 through Dec. 23, awaiting a heart transplant. It was on December 4 that I recived the gift of life. I do not know who the donor family was, but I am forever in there debt. I am 18 now and I am doing great!! I have had only one case of rejection, and had to spent a few days in the hospital during the summer of 1999. I will be attending my senior year of high school at the end of the summer. I am not sure what college I want to attened in the fall of 2001, but I want to study astrophysics. I am really good at designing web pages. It just might give astrophysics a run for its money. |

The Ronald McDonald House of Hershey is a "home away from home" where families can stay while their children are receiving treatment at Penn State's University Hospital. Living away from home is expensive and lonely in a time of crisis and upheaval in the family. The Ronald McDonald House of Hershey provides a warm, friendly environment for both children and parents where they can relax, work, prepare meals, do laundry and receive comfort and emotional support. For further information or to make a room request, contact the House between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. The House operates on a non-fee basis. Donations in support of the House are greatly appreciated. No family is turned away due to inability to contribute. |
